Home Vids: Random Improv for Josh and Chelsea

Oct. 21, 2009 | Short clip of me playing a random improvisation while testing the audio capabilities of my digital camera (Canon Powershot 980IS), which shot the clip. Pretty decent audio quality from just this $350 camera and no editing. The guitar is a Koll Jr. Glide (www.kollguitars.com) with Thorn GT-90 staple-top pickups, through Xotic RC Boost (Scott Henderson model), Pedalworx Cactus Crunch OD, Hardwire Reverb, Maxon AD900 Delay, and Boss RC-2 Loop Station pedals, to a Suhr/Custom Audio OD100 Standard amp head, to a Bogner 2x12 Shiva-size speaker cab with Celestion G12H-30s. Dedicating this clip to two good friends and our love for good beer. Crank it up!

Home Vids: Random Improv 2

Oct. 21, 2009| A short and random improv based around and building on melodic ideas used in another video clip of mine ("Random Improv for Josh and Chelsea"). This was shot on my Canon Powershot 980IS digital camera, which has pleasantly surprised me with its rather good audio quality. No editing has been done to this clip. Pretty good for a $350 dollar camera. Clips like this have been a really useful tool for not only hearing my strengths and weaknesses, but for being able to visually see how I'm playing: whether I'm tense or relaxed, my overall posture, tone production, whether I'm playing with economy of motion or needlessly overdoing things physically, etc. The guitar is a Koll Jr. Glide (www.kollguitars.com) with Thorn GT-90 staple-top pickups, through Xotic RC Boost (Scott Henderson model), Pedalworx Cactus Crunch OD, Hardwire Reverb, Maxon AD900 Delay, and Boss RC-2 Loop Station pedals, to a Suhr/Custom Audio OD100 Standard amp head, to a Bogner 2x12 Shiva-size speaker cab with Celestion G12H-30s. As always, Crank it Up!

Home Vids: Last Romp with Blondie

Oct. 23, 2009 | Clip of my last playing session with "Blondie", my awesome trans-blond Suhr Classic guitar. It's been one of my main loves these past three years, but my tonal taste has shifted away from S-type guitars and I'm trading her for something else. Thought I'd film my last moments with Blondie before packing and shipping her off. This clip was recorded with a Canon Powershot 980IS digital camera with no editing other than the fade-in and fade-out. Amp is a Suhr/Custom Audio OD100 Standard head going to a Bogner 2x12 Shiva-size cabinet with Celestion G12H-30s. Effects pedal in the signal chain are: Xotic RC Boost (Scott Henderson model), LovePedal Eternity, Boss RC-2 Loop Station (playing the background loop), Maxon AD900 Delay, and Hardwire Reverb.
